The sun is strongest in the middle of the day. Wearing a hat, lightweight shirts or longer sleeves can help protect your skin when playing in strong sun. Wear sandals, water shoes, or sneakers when outside to protect your feet from hot sound and sand.

The sun’s rays can hurt your skin. Put on sunscreen with SPF 30 or higher before going outside in the sun for long periods of time. Reapply every 2 hours.

Playing in the sun can make you lose water through sweat, and dehydration is a very serious health risk. Drink water often, even if you do not feel thirsty.

Too much sun at once can cause sunburn or overheating, and too much heat can make you feel dizzy or sick. Take breaks in shade under trees, umbrellas, or buildings to help your body cool down.
